What is the difference between IMS (dry needling) and acupuncture?
IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation) targets myofascial pain by inserting needles into specific muscles to relieve tension, primarily focusing on chronic pain and dysfunction. In contrast, acupuncture is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and involves inserting needles into points along energy pathways (meridians) to balance the flow of Qi (energy), addressing a broader range of health issues beyond just pain. Essentially, IMS is more about muscle treatment, while acupuncture emphasizes overall energy balance.
